The HR Royal Hotel – Benidorm
It’s always nice to return to a hotel that over time has become one of your favourites.
From the moment you get through the revolving door the friendly atmosphere hits you with the reception background noise and the bar area alive with people.
This was reserved last minute and so were placed in a smaller side view room, with a nice balcony overlooking half of Levante Bay (Buildings). All the usual fittings etc you come to expect from the HR group.
A shower only type bathroom in this room but very adequate for two-night stay, no full-length mirror in this size room.
I like the large strongboxes used in this hotel, no problem for laptops and included in the price.
There are the usual lots of freebies to wash n shower with although I think most tourists take them home as a keep’s sake, great for the business traveller on a one-night stopover.
We have written previous reviews about the reception staff in this hotel and again the service on this latest visit was excellent, I was being looked after by Roberto who made things so easy from checking in to printing out my Iberia flight tickets. Certainly, senior management talent.
Good to see the team in the bar again who incidentally never remember me as I only stay one or two nights, but returning tourists always remember the waiter who looks after them with real Spanish measures, thanks to Juan Antonio, Guillermo and Martin who make a good team.
Always give a good tip you’re get your money back eventually, especially those who add drinks to the room bill, after all the nightly entertainment is free.
The Restaurant
The restaurant was still the same as I remembered and again always busy, the food is so well presented here and for a hotel serving in bulk the food was fresh looking and tasted good.
The staff looked a little tired and poor Lorena was a little stressed out, but the happy smiling Saray was always following behind keeping things together, this girl is so efficient. Don’t know who the tall waiter dressed in black was, but he needs a new uniform.
Stayed in this hotel three times this January and every time checking in and out was an easy noneventful experience, the perfect ‘Adult Only’ destination in Benidorm with the warmest welcome you will ever find in a hotel in Spain.
When hotels use the energy saving keys in the rooms to switch the electric on and off, why don’t they add a small low energy light so you can see where the plastic card is supposed to go. (At night it can be awkward)
No bedside USB sockets.
A must visit hotel…
