Expanded check‑in hall and departure lounge to improve passenger flow and reduce congestion.
Edinburgh Airport has confirmed a £500 million, five‑year investment programme, the largest in its history, aimed at transforming the terminal, boosting capacity and strengthening Scotland’s global connectivity.
What the £500m plan includes
Terminal footprint to grow by 60%, creating significantly more space for passengers.
New gates and aircraft stands to support more flights and route expansion.
Expanded check‑in hall and departure lounge to improve passenger flow and reduce congestion.
New international arrivals facilities plus upgraded baggage make‑up and reclaim areas.
Major retail, food and beverage expansion, offering more choice and modernised spaces.
Campus‑wide upgrades, including a new access road and additional electric‑vehicle infrastructure.
Why the investment matters
The airport’s owners, VINCI Airports and Global Infrastructure Partners, say the project will help Edinburgh Airport compete globally, support new long‑haul and short‑haul routes, and strengthen Scotland’s connectivity with Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia.
