AI Use in Travel Planning Soars as Bookings with Agents Decline
The number of Britons turning to artificial intelligence for travel inspiration and planning has risen sharply, according to ABTA’s Holiday Habits Report 2025–2026.
The report shows that 34% of holidaymakers booked through a travel professional, a drop of more than 10 percentage points from last year. In contrast, nearly 20% of young adults have used AI tools to plan their holidays, compared with fewer than 3% of over-55s, highlighting a clear generational divide.
Despite economic uncertainty, 87% of Britons took a holiday last year.
The growing use of AI reflects a wider trend across industries, with surveys showing that AI-powered trip planning has doubled in popularity since 2024.
