‘Year of recovery’ sees Heathrow Airport narrow annual losses

Heathrow Airport halved annual losses in 2022 as passenger traffic rebounded to 61.6 million.

It reported a pre-tax airline loss of £684m versus a £1.3bn loss in 2021.

Passenger numbers still remain about 25% down on pre-pandemic highs.

“It may have been a year of recovery, but 2023 is shaping up to be a year of renewal for Heathrow,” said outgoing CEO John Holland-Kaye.

Heathrow Airport doubled down on its bid for big hikes in airport charges.

There are ‘errors in the CAA’s forecasts’ it says.

The CAA sets the maximum airports can charge and issued an interim fee schedule while it makes a final decision on charges through 2026.
