Unite warns of summer travel ‘chaos’ at Glasgow Airport

Union Unite has warned of summer travel ‘chaos’ ahead for Glasgow Airport.

Its ICTS Central Search unionised members rejected a pay offer.

Around 250 ICTS workers at Glasgow Airport voted by 94% to reject a ‘derisory’ 5%  offer.

Inflation figures published this week show RPI at 13.5%.

The Central Search workers deal with passengers directly in the security search area and process them for flights.

They also cover mobile patrols, control access posts, screen all deliveries and deal with emergency services at Glasgow Airport.

Unite says that it will have ‘no option’ but to move towards an industrial ballot unless the company significantly improves the pay offer.

Unite secured an increase of up to 15% from £10 to £11.50 per hour last time but ICTS is refusing to improve the current pay offer this year.
