Turkey is set to welcome a record-breaking three million UK visitors in 2022, it will be a record high.
Tourism statistics show that in the first nine months of 2022, Turkey received 2.8 million UK visitors.
This surpasses the 2.56 million who visited throughout all of 2019, and easily exceeds the original 2022 UK target of 2.5 million visitors by the end of 2022.
Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Republic of Turkey Minister of Culture and Tourism, says: “Going into 2022, we already had great confidence in the UK market. These numbers not only exemplify the importance of the UK to Turkey but highlight our country’s appeal as a year round destination.”
Analysis from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism shows that Turkey’s worldwide visitor numbers will finish this year on par or slightly above levels in 2019 – which previously held the all-time record.
As a result, Turkey is again revising upwards its target for 2022 from 47 million to 50 million visitors.
The Minister will be present at World Travel Market 2022 to share important insights on Turkey’s tourism strategy for 2023.
Minister Ersoy adds: “2023 is an important year for Turkey as the first stage of our national programme with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council comes into effect. This is one of many developments.”
