Private jet travel skyrockets

UK private jet travel surged by 75% last year.

Research commissioned by Greenpeace found private flying was up 60% in Europe, from 350,000 flights in 2021 to over 570,000 in 2022.

The study says UK private flying had the highest carbon dioxide emissions in Europe, at half a million tonnes.

Europe-wide, emissions were over 3.3 million tonnes, according to a separate study by Dutch consultancy CE Delft.

Greenpeace wants a blanket ban on private jet travel.

Reducing oil-powered transport is critical to averting a ‘climate disaster.’
