Norovirus suspected as hundreds sick on Caribbean cruise

Nearly 300 people were sickened on a cruise ship with gastro bug norovirus the ‘likely’ cause.

Ruby Princess reported 284 people sick on arrival back in Galveston after a Caribbean sailing.

It includes 34 crew members.

There was a total of 2,881 people aboard.

The CDC said guests reported symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea.

“At the first sign of passengers reporting to the medical center, we immediately initiated additional sanitization procedures,” Princess Cruises said.

The ship ‘underwent an additional disinfection’ in Galveston before the next departure.
