Around 275 workers based at Edinburgh have voted to take airport strike action in a pay dispute.
Unite says 85% voted to strike.
Unite reckons a summer of ‘chaos’ is likely unless an improved pay offer is on the table.
The union’s general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Members at Edinburgh Airport have emphatically backed strike action. The pay offer on the table is nowhere near good enough.”
“A realistic pay offer needs to be put on the table. Unite will always support our members in the fight for better jobs, pay and conditions.”
Unite is calling for a similar offer made to Gatwick Airport staff, where a 12% increase plus a £1500 one-off cash payment was accepted by the workforce.
An airport strike would affect passenger security and terminal operations.
Unite says workers real take-home pay in the past seven years has dropped by around 9.8%.
