Canary Islands plans to impose curfew

Expecting a flood of young holidaymakers this summer, the Canary Islands want to reintroduce night curfews to avoid large crowds of young unvaccinated revellers.

Covid-19 cases have been surging across Spain since last month. The Canaries’ regional government have proposed a nightly 12.30am to 6am curfew on Tenerife.

Regional leader Angel Victor Torres said it would prevent the build-up of large crowds in entertainment areas. France and Germany have now classed Spain as a high-risk area.

Unvaccinated under-18s will be exempt from quarantine when returning to England from an amber list destination when rules change next week.
