Birmingham air travellers told to arrive three hours early amid ‘chaos’

Holiday firm TUI is urging Midlands holidaymakers jetting off from Birmingham Airport to arrive at least three hours ahead of their flights.

It calls on those travelling long haul to arrive four hours before departure.

“Birmingham Airport is getting a face lift, with a new £60 million security area being built to improve the airport experience,” TUI said.

“We’d like to remind you to arrive at the airport with sufficient time before your flight.”

However, TUI said arriving even earlier than this won’t guarantee they will be allowed to check early

There have been long queues at the airport for days which have stretched outside the airport.

“Together with Birmingham Airport, we’re doing our best to make sure the facelift has the littlest effect as you pass through the airport,” TUI added.

Severe delays at security screening have been described as ‘chaos.’

Jet2 also warned its customers to get to the airport early.
